Finance group @ LSL

The Finance team are on the look-out for a newly created Financial Accountant position. You will be responsible for providing accurate, timely and relevant information on the financial and business performance of the Life Scientific legal entities and the overall consolidated group.

Key elements of the role include developing and improving processes and financial systems to facilitate informed decision making, while ensuring a robust financial control environment to safeguard company assets.

You will help to manage the day to day financial, regulatory and taxation matters of the Life Scientific trading entities. We are a small finance team with huge aspirations to help continue to support the organisation during this exciting time of growth and are looking for someone who is highly ambitious and will fit into the finance team.

What the Role involves

All aspects of the Accounts function, including:

  • Producing monthly management packs which the balance sheet, income statement and changes in financial position/budget variance analyses
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports, ensuring that they are completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner and in accordance with GAAP
  • Preparation of monthly consolidated accounts.
  • Preparation, analysis and posting of journals at month end 
  • Preparation and analysis of balance sheet reconciliations at month end to ensure every line item has appropriate support
  • Calculation, posting and analysis of monthly accruals and prepayments, ensuring that all items are accurately captured
  • Review and reconciliation of inter-company accounts
  • Preparation of multi-currency bank reconciliations
  • Statutory reporting and taking a key role in the completion of the year end audits
  • Processing and reviewing transactional taxes e.g., VAT, Intrastat, 46G
  • Support annual corporation tax compliance and R&D Tax Credit workings
  • Assisting in the design and preparation of budgets for review by management
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of all financial processes as the organisation continues to grow
  • Various other ad-hoc duties when required

Ideal Profile for the Role

  • Qualified accountant i.e., ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CPA
  • Big 4 with audit training an advantage
  • Proficient in SAP or similar ERP
  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Experience of BI tools an advantage
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills 
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • A strong business acumen with an eye for detail
